York Building Services is committed to maintaining a safe and hazard-free workplace. We believe that proper safety training and risk management practices are crucial to effectively delivering our services, protecting our employees and limiting risk exposure for our clients.
All staff are clearly identifiable through the use of uniforms and company identification badges and York will provide all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by job function.
 
All staff will receive orientation on fire safety and will be educated on fire exits and emergency procedures. Direct contact and emergency phone numbers are placed in all janitorial closets as part of a hazard communication program.
 
Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) will be readily available for all cleaning products. Employees who handle chemicals are trained on the use and hazards of those chemicals. All chemicals will be used in a safe and proper manner and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

York Building Services complies with all pertinent provisions of the federal OSHA Hazard Communication Standard and all comparable state requirements. An OSHA logbook will be maintained on-site to accurately record all incidents.

All dedicated on-site equipment is routinely inspected to ensure that defective equipment is duly replaced to prevent unsafe working conditions.
 
York Building Services continually strives to use best practices to ensure a safe and secure working environment for its employees and our clients.
 
Our written safety policy that is communicated with employees upon orientation and reviewed annually and addresses accident prevention strategies, reporting procedures and hazardous material control among other policies.
 
OSHA logbook record keeping is required at all client sites and all safety training and orientations are signed-off and documented for each employee upon successful completion.
 
York Building Services also believes in rewarding our employees for maintaining safe work places through recognition incentives.
 

 

In addition, York Building Services performs site-specific safety training and orientation. Site-specific training covers the following topics:

• Emergency exits.
• Site-specific fire safety procedures.
• Proper equipment storage
• Location and functionality of water supply.
• Alarm code instruction (if applicable).
• Proper use of signage (wet floor signs).
• Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
 
In conjunction with our written safety policy and site-specific training, we employ the expertise of third-party safety consultants for ongoing training and certification, along with training and educational programs available through organizations such as Meadowlands Chamber of Commerce and CIANJ, webinars by industry associations such as ISSA, CMI, BSCAI, IFMA and IEHA and continuing education courses offered through local universities and colleges
 
York management has received certification in OSHA recordkeeping: 29CFR part 1904 recording and reporting and we are committed to continued recertification.
